Just over 50 years after it first galloped onto cinema screens, Monty Python and the Holy Grail remains one of the most beloved and quotable comedy films ever made. Now, audiences have the chance to relive the magic and celebrate the milestone with none other than the legendary John Cleese live on stage as he tours across the UK this September, hosting a unique screening and Q&A about the film.
The tour will make its way to select venues around the UK throughout September, starting at Basingstoke Anvil Arts on 1 September, and culminating at Leeds Grand Theatre on 22 September. Tickets are available from JohnCleeseOfficial.com or from the venues. Book now – before Cleese really is dead.
These special events will celebrate more than half a century of Monty Python and the Holy Grail, beginning with an introduction from John Cleese himself, before audiences get to enjoy a full screening of the iconic film. Following the screening, audiences will be treated to a 45-minute Q&A interview with Cleese (hosted by a local interviewer), with the opportunity to ask the comedy legend their own questions. During the discussions, Cleese will reflect on the making of the film, the legacy of Monty Python…and whatever else he can still remember.
John Cleese said: “I’m delighted to be celebrating more than 50 years of Holy Grail with these incredible live events around the country…mainly because I genuinely never expected either the film or myself to last this long.”
Audience members can expect behind-the-scenes stories, sharp observations, irreverent humour and, quite possibly, complete nonsense.
So gather your fellow knights, dust off your coconuts and prepare for an evening celebrating one of comedy’s greatest ever movies.
Please note: coconuts are not included in the ticket price!
